We rolled into Cali yesterday afternoon but no one wanted to hit the beach - they wanted to hit the freakin' swimming pool at the hotel. It was all good though cause we hit two beaches today to make up for it.
The first one we tried was Corona Del Ray - and Little Corona - a recommendation that Kenna had made to us. It was a great beach. We walked and walked and walked. We found little tide pools, a formation of bricks in the middle of the rocks, a cave, Preston had to pee, a seal, flowers, and finally the Corona Arch.
Next we hit Balboa - Our favorite!!! We hit the ferry on the way over - who want's to just drive over to Balboa Island when you can ride the three car ferry?? And we played on the beach and the boys played in the water. Cooper and Gavin were DRENCHED when we got back to the car - and it was not a nice warm day - crazy boys.
Next we went into Garden Grove. They have a little railroad run by older gentleman in a pretty little park. But they only open it up for rides every third Sunday of the Month - so it was our lucky day.
Cooper's clothes were all drenched from playing in the Ocean and he wanted to come ride the train so badly, but we didn't know what to dress him in that was dry. So, Spencer took off his boxer shorts that look like regular shorts and we made him wear his winter coat - whatever works.
Preston was in TRAIN HEAVEN!! He wanted to ride "Thomas" so bad. Good think there weren't very many people - we got to ride quite a few times - and it was a good, long ride each time.
After the trains in Garden Grove we went over to Lori and Jeff Kretchmer's for a nice steak and potatoes dinner - it was Wonderful!!! Didn't get any pictures of our nice hosts and their family though.
What an awesome start to a great family trip.
