Friday the 9th was Preston's 2 week check up with the Dr - he weighed 6 lbs 2 oz with all of his clothes on so I came home and weighed all his clothes (I know, I'm a dork) and figured he actually weighed 5 lbs 13 oz on his 2 week birthday - and he was 19 inches long. Everything checked out perfectly.
Yesterday I also took him back to the hospital to have his hearing checked because he failed the initial exam right after he was born. I was really concerned when he failed the first set of tests again, but was quite relieved when he passed the second set and knew that there weren't any problems.

Both those blankets are beautifully done!! How neat!!! He is so cute!!
Is there anything you need? If so please call! I've been wanting to get you something but keep having nightmares that what I get you you already have. So I've been frustrated! Maybe I'll get something just for YOU!! :)
I'd come see you again, but Katie still has a runny nose, and I've had a sore throat off and on since I last saw you. So I don't want to come over. My biggest nightmare is I'll go see someone, then their baby will die of RSV, and I'll always think it was my fault, even if I wasn't sick! I know, I'm a dork. :) But I really don't want him to get RSV. Cooper looks so big with his hair coming in! He's just so cute. :) I can't wait to see Preston start to get chubby! Looks like he's putting all his energy into getting tall right now. :)
Ginger~In answer to your question we were in Depoe Bay,OR. I love the OR coast and Depoe Bay is just 10 miles south of Lincoln City-I think I read one of your posts a long time ago that you guys had gone there. It was fabulous. I love the coast when its stormy-rough seas but not rainy.
Awwww! What a sweet baby! I need to see him/watch him for you again soon! We'll make sure Ella is plenty well by then though. Keep posting pictures for me. : ) Glad you like the quilt and that you are using it too. That always makes me feel good.
He is still so little! He is such a cute lil guy!
He is adorable, and what awesome quilts...what a gift to give.
No, you did not miss anything ;) ...as far as the blog goes...I kind-of deliberately left it vague...I think I am nervous about strangers, and am thinking about making it private so I can write whatever I want! With Russ being gone awhile I don't know how I feel about writing with much clarity about it!
So Russ sent this to his family last January 5th/Thursday. You might think it's interesting! We found out that very Thursday that he deploys for 6 months to Honduras. He left the following Monday morning. We had about a 3 1/2 day notice before he left for 6months! Then we spent one of the three days in Delta with Carl and Nancy to spend time with them before he left, so we really had about 2 1/2 days to get things in order as best we could before he left!
The First 3 weeks he is in San Antonio, Texas, but the kids and I flew out yesterday to be with him!

Hello to you all. You may remember how I'm likely going to get out of the Army in DEC 09. That 14-month deployment kind of did us in as far as being apart, not to mention that I got to enjoy 14 lovely months on FOB (Forward Operating Base) Striker and Liberty in Baghdad.
Well....an opportunity came up that I really wanted to take advantage of. I was able to go to Comayagua, Honduras last April for three weeks as part of a humanitarian mission called "Beyond the Horizons." I went as a linguist and we helped build/refurbish several schools in very poor neighborhoods. I worked in a hospital as well.
They are doing the same "Beyond the Horizons" mission this year. It was going to be in El Salvador but they decided it was too dangerous there. OK....this is dragging on a bit too much already.
I'm going to San Antonio, Texas first. From Texas I go to the same place in Honduras to help with the same mission for 2009. I'll be there as the "safety officer." Being that I'm a linguist and a government contracting officer I may get thrown into some other stuff as well. It will really just be pretty cool to go to Honduras for that long. It is the last chance I'll get to take advantage of something like this.
We're looking into the possibility of Angela and the kids going to San Antonio for a few weeks. Your lovely tax dollars are paying to get me a hotel and rental car for 4 weeks, so we'd just need to fly them there and back. I want to get there, stay a few days, and see what my job is going to be like before we make any decisions. I guess we'll see what happens but it sounds like a really cool opportunity to go to Honduras. I leave Monday morning at 6:00 so the next few days will be spent getting ready for it. It should be pretty exciting. There's a possibility that we'll try to fly Angela to Honduras for a week or so sometime in the mix. Again....I just need to get there and get a feel for things before we do anything.
