The Race That Wasn't

The boys were so excited for their Race last Saturday - and when we woke up to rain I asked Dave if we were still going - he said of course we were - silly me, what was I thinking?? We went out past Eureka to find the little desert track and it was getting pretty muddy and the rain was continous. The boys got all their gear on and rode the practice laps and then we all decided it was time to go home if we wanted to make it home - our truck is not a 4x4 and we were afraid we would get stuck if we stayed for the whole race, while it continued to rain and make the mud worse. Cooper was devastated - he had so much fun, and Dave said he was the fastest four wheeler out there during practice - it would have been so much fun to watch him race for the first time. The other boys were okay with it - we promised to take them to the little track by our house this week. So we were able to still get their race t-shirts and their trophies and we headed home. We slid and our trailer jack-knifed all the way down the muddy dirt road, and we watched as our friends the Lee's slid all over the road too, once hitting into the bank - pretty scary - but we made it home in one piece. We did have to stop for a quick trip to the car wash - all of our stuff was caked with mud!!

Cooper trying to stay dry.
Me and my love - Dave was drenched.
Poor bikes, didn't even get to race.
Loading back up.
When we got home the boys were just as happy to carve their pumpkins.
