Took the boys to Pleasant Grove today with my friend Marcy, and her daughter Kenna. The park is amazing and the boys loved it - but it was so hot!!! We stayed and had lunch, played for about half and hour, and then had to leave - we couldn’t stand it anymore. We’ll definitely have to go back once it cools down a little.
A Night Out With Spence
July 1, 2008

Dave and I go out every week, but once a month we take one of the boys, and on the fourth month we go for a family date. Last Saturday was Spencer’s turn to go out with us and he chose to go to Jumpin’ Jacks in Springville. Jumpin’ Jacks is a building filled with huge bouncy houses and slides and we had soooo much fun. Spencer ran and ran and ran and ran and ran - Dave and I had to take a break every once in a while just to keep up with him. I wasn’t as experienced in bouncy houses so I came home with vinyl burns on both elbows. We all had so much fun and loved spending a little one-on-one time with one of our best buds. Thanks Spencer for going out with us!!
A Campin' We Will Go
June 26, 2008

So we went on our first camping trip for the season. Our first trip is usually in March or April, but this year we have been a bit lazy. We went up to Payson Lakes with my sisters and their boyfriends/families and had a lot of fun. When we got up to our spot our “neighbors” informed us that the next night they were going to be having a big old White Trash Wedding - hundreds of people, booze and loudness. The next day they started bring in chairs, tables and the Outhouse - we were out of there. We ran into some of our new neighbors, Forrest and Jill - Dave also works with Forrest - and they said we could come and camp by them. So once we had spent they day at the lake fishing and soaking up the sun, we moved up the canyon with them. It was fun to be out camping again and enjoying the outdoors with the boys.
We Have a New Cousin!!!

Kaylie Lynn Deschamps was born on Thursday, June 19th - and she is sooooo cute!! She weighed 6lbs 2oz and was 17 1/2 inches long. We went Friday to see her at the hospital and we saw Pete and Kenna while we were at it - they are her proud parents.
The boys absolutely love Kaylie and want to go and see her every day. It makes me so excited to have my own in January.

MMMMM, Spaghetti!!!
June 15, 2008

We had spaghetti for dinner tonight and about halfway through, Cooper started crying and told us that a noodle was stuck up his nose (he had been chewing on it and it went the back way - he didn’t stick it up his nose). We tried to have him blow it out quite a few times, then Spencer told me to not keep squeezing his nose, just let him continue to blow, and out popped the noodle - we were laughing so hard - we had to take a picture. Look how long that sucker was, and it was doubled up - no wonder he was crying.
Salem Pond
June 1, 2008

Took the boys to Salem Pond last night and did a little duck feeding and fishing off of our paddleboat. We took a box of cheerios and were surrounded by ducks - its always so much fun. Gavin caught the only fish of the night - the other two tried with no luck.
When I was young, me and my siblings used to walk down to the pond from our house - about a mile away - and swim with no lifejackets, and I don’t think any of us really knew how to swim - What was my mom THINKING!!!!
When I was a teenager I also jumped off the bridge you can see in the background of some of the pictures - even though its posted NO JUMPING!!! What a rebel.

Another Month - Another Post
May 21st 2008

The first weekend of May Dave took Gavin and Spencer to the Las Vegas Supercross , where Gavin got to meet his Motocross Idol - Kenny “The Cowboy” Bartram- they had so much fun. They went down with Dave’s Brother Justin, his wife Lara, and their baby Ella. My boys adore Ella and were so excited to spend so much time with her - Spencer even bragged to me that he got to change her clothes. While they were in Vegas, Cooper and I stayed home. We went to the What Women Want Expo and Chuck E Cheese - it brought back memories of how easy it was to only have one child, but I was so excited to see the other two when they got home.
The next weekend all of the boys raced in Spanish Fork. Gavin raced his KX65, Spencer on his KTM50 and Cooper raced his Power Wheels Jeep. Cooper was going to race his Four Wheeler but two days prior, he fell off of his scooter at the park and wound up at the ER with a concussion, so he was taking it easy on the day of the race. All boys did really well at the race and didn’t mind when they didn’t come in first place - and they all got trophies!!
Last weekend Dave went to Moab with his bros - and I stayed home with all three boys this time. We all had a lot of fun and enjoyed each other’s company. Friday ,Gavin and Spencer had a Piano Recital. Gavin played the Snake Dance and Spencer played The Train Song. Gavin used the book (he didn’t need to, he has the song memorized) and Spencer did not, he played from memory. They have been taking lessons now for two years. We started with Grandma Julie teaching them and about a year ago they started getting a little mouthy with Grandma so we switched to a teacher here in our neighborhood. They have taken it really slow, learning a song a week and it has paid off - they both were amazing!! A few people asked us how old Spence is because he did so well for being such a little boy.
Spencer Graduated Kindergarten today - he is getting so old - he sang all the words to the songs and knew all the actions - I’m so proud of him, he works so hard.
Cooper will graduate Preschool tomorrow and he is very, very excited. He has grown up so much in the last year going to preschool. He is even spelling, and writing his own name.
We found out a couple of weeks ago that we are going to be adding to our family. I’m pregnant and due January 14th. All the boys are DYING for a little sister - even after I’ve assured them that we don’t know how to make them - and are going to be very upset if we bring home a baby brother. At this point, I’ve been trying to talk Dave into a baby for two years, so I will take whatever I can get. I think a girl would be fun, but at the same time, I know how to do the boy thing - and - Dave is one of four boys and I think it would be fun to carry that on into our family.

Our Trip to the Oregon Coast
April 8, 2008

We got back last week from our family trip - with Dave’s brother Pete and his wife Kenna. We went to Lincoln City, Oregon, on the Oregon Coast. It was the most AMAZING trip I have taken, and I can’t wait to go back - hopefully the others feel the same way.
We stayed in a Beach house called Natique which was right on the Oceanfront - beach access was only a block away and down a flight of stairs - so the boys and Dave were playing on the beach quite a bit. We also went into Depoe Bay and Newport and saw some of the sights there - The Newport Aquarium, The Hatfield Marine Science Center and the Yaquina Head Light House. Pete, Kenna and I also took a chartered boat trip out in the ocean to do some whalewatching - Pete got horribly seasick so he unfortunately didn’t see any whales, but Kenna and I did get to see quite a few. I had wanted to go to Oregon to see the whales and had picked the week we went specifically because the whales were migrating, so I was very elated to be able to see them so close up, and was able to get some video of them as well.
We all loved the tide pools and Devil’s Punch Bowl and at the Yaquina Head Lighthouse. It was cool to be able to touch all of the sealife in their natural environment - starfish, urchins, crabs, anenomes, hermit crabs, fish, slugs.
The kids were so good on the way out and even on the way home - when we took the 14 hour drive in one day - it actually took us 16 1/2 hours after stopping to eat a few times.
I absolutely love being around Dave and the boys - and I’m so glad we were able to spend this time together as a family - and have so much fun at the same time.

Stranger Danger
March 5, 2008
My mom has been wanting to spend some time with the boys, so I dropped them off at her house while Dave and I went and did some Easter shopping and got a bite to eat. While we were gone my mom’s mechanic dropped her car off and stopped for a few minutes to talk to her. As they were talking, his family had parked in their van along side my mom’s house to wait. Gavin apparently saw the van and thought it was suspicious, so he gathered up his brothers and his cousins and made them all go inside. When my mom told me all of this, I was immediately proud of him and somewhat relieved - that he knows what to do in a situation like that, and knows how to take care of his brothers. I am so proud of you Gavin!!!

This is a picture of my new ring.
I lost my wedding rings (both the band and solitaire) a couple of weeks ago - each about a week apart from each other - they slid off my finger. I found a new set on the internet, but once I got them I realized I had ordered the same size that fell off my finger, duh!! I just got them back yesterday from having them sized, along with the ring Dave gave me for my 10th Anniversary. I really love them, but was really attached to my other set, maybe since I wore them for more than 13 years.
Took the kids to the zoo this week - Wednesday was free day. I woke them up just like anyother school day, without telling them my plans - neither of them wanted to go to school, so it was great. We got in the car and on the way, I called the school and excused them for the day - the look on their faces was priceless. Gavin told me, “You tricked us!!!” - It was great. My mom used to do stuff like that for us when we were kids, and it makes for great memories.
Last night Cooper fell asleep on my bed, so I carefully picked him up and put him in his own bed. He woke up and told me “Mom, you forgot to brush my teeth”, which is unusual, because he HATES for me to brush his teeth. I told him it was okay, to just go back to sleep, and he said, “but I have sugar bugs all over them”. It was so cute, and so nice to know that he does listen to me. I did go get his toothbrush for him and let him brush the sugar bugs away.
Everyone here has been sick this week with the exception of me - PHEW!!! Cooper and Spencer had it at the beginning of the week, so Spence missed a few days of school. I’m assuming that its the flu since Dave came home yesterday and is home today with it too. Yesterday Gavin played sick - and was soo upset when he learned he wouldn’t be going to scouts, because at our house if you are sick (pretending) or not, you do NOTHING for the whole day.

Wow - its been a week already??? I wanted to post sooner, but was bitten - BIG time - by the strep bug. I got sick on Saturday and went to the doctor where they swabbed my throat and ran a test, which came out negative. This has happened before and it just about killed me then too. So I waited until Monday when I could get into MY doctor who prescribed me some antibiotics right away - I already had cancers all over the back of my throat at this point. I quickly got dehyrdrated, which has resulted in two HUGE cold sores on my top lip, which is sooo disgusting. Anyway, today I am feeling much better - I cannot believe how much I take my health for granted. My boys I might add have been amazing to me while I was sick. They all took such good care of me - ran and got things that I needed, check up on me, etc. Gavin especially loved me when I didn’t feel good - he would come and cuddle with me and watch TV so I wasn’t all alone. The were all loving on me last night and Dave said, “They’ve really missed you.” I’m so glad they like me.
So back to normal life, we have been feeding the deer at our house for the past few weeks. Its so much fun to watch them come and eat the hay - right at our FRONT WINDOW. The boys just love watching them too - its great to see them heaving the huge binoculars around to take a closer look. Dave goes out each night and puts out more hay for them - its so cold and snowy they have nothing to eat on the mountain - so they come down looking for food. It was Dave’s idea - and it was a good one. I’m going to post a picture or two if they are small enough.

Here’s a little about what’s going on in the Deschamps’ Family:
Well, Gavin is Eight and getting so big - he was just baptized the 5th of this month!!! He just started Scouts and LOVES it - I think he will probably finish his Wolf Badge in the next month and have nothing else to do for the year, which I think is AWSOME!! He loves collecting Bones - it is so hard as a mom - YUCK!!! Right now he has a little KX 60 (dirt bike) and does really, really well on it. He won 3rd place in the widowmaker hillclimb, summer of ‘06. He is very cautious on his bike and is a very good rider. Gavin loves to ride BMX as well - he builds ramps all over our front lawn, which we allow as long as he wears his full face motorcycle helmet. He actually, has yet to be hurt. He also plays the paino and had his first piano recital last month, he was one of the best. He does really well in school and is a good friend. I am so proud of him.
Spencer turned six in October and started Kindergarten this year - he is starting to read right now. His teacher will tell you that he is a chick magnet - the girls LOVE him - I think its becuase he is so nice and sensitive. Spence rides a KTM 50 (dirt bike) - he just started riding it this summer and he is really good. He also loves riding his BMX bike and scooter - also has to wear his full face helmet. Spencer is our sports kids - likes playing ball with his dad in the backyard in the summer. He also plays piano and had his recital last month, he too was one of the best - he catches on to everything so quickly, it amazes me.
Cooper is going to turn four in March and is such a funny little kid. He will be so happy and silly one moment, and then the next he is throwing an absolute fit, kicking, screaming - you name it, he does it. He is going to preschool this year and really enjoys it, he also just started Sunbeams this month. Cooper rides a little 50cc four wheeler, which is a hoot to watch - he looks like he’s only two so he looks so tiny when he rides. He has such a cute little personality, loves to tell stories, makes the cutest faces, wears his clothes backwards continuously. He also plays the piano, just hasn’t started lessons yet.
I just got called to be the ward CubMaster - which means I’m in charge of Pack Meeting every month. It looks like it will be a fun, yet challenging calling for me. Gavin’s really excited since he just got into scouts. :) I’ve been able to stay at home for the last five years, and I LOVE it. Cooper will start Kindergarten in a year and a half and I’m already starting to feel really, really sad that they will not be home with me during the day - I mean like crying sad. I’ve been doing coupons for the last two years and am obsessed with it. I save sooo much money and get to buy soooo much stuff, its soooo much FUN!!! I like Cooper, have a four wheeler that I ride. In the summer we go camping/riding just about every other weekend. We have even been able to purchase our new trailer for almost nothing - we flip trailers - we buy one in the winter and then sell it in the winter for a thousand or two more than we bought it for.
Dave works at Rocky Mountain ATV, doing their computer work for them - IT stuff I guess you would call it. He works really, really hard to keep us a little ahead. He is a real penny pincher, and if it weren’t for him, we would be in debt up to our necks, because I love to spend. He works SO hard for us, he’ll never now how appreciative I am for that. Right now he is working on learning to do programming and even did his first web page, and got paid for it - I’m so proud of him. He really is so smart - he wouldn’t tell you that though.
I’m going to try and keep this a little up to date, better than my hand-written journal anyway.
